Working in the city, I lead a life that is pretty much the norm for people living in any modern urban city. I have a 9 to 5 job that occupies most of my time including some weekends. I have a rented apartment that I only use as a convenient place to rest for a few hours before going back to work.
My day usually begins at 5:30 am. This is the time that I wake up. I have been waking up at this time for many years now such that my internal clock automatically alerts me and I wake up. I still use my alarm clock though. I do not fully trust myself. You never know when you might get into a beautiful dream and the internal clock decides not to wake you up.
When I wake up, like many people, I hate the fact that I have to cut short my sleep. To shed off the sleepiness, I have learnt to immediately jump into a hot shower. As I take the shower, I gradually reduce the water heat until at last I jolt all my remaining sleepy faculties with an ice cold water shower. For me, this is the perfect initiation for starting off a new day. After having a shower, I fix myself a cup of coffee using my espresso machine. Strong black coffee kick starts my brain ready for the day.
I usually do not have a heavy breakfast, the cup of coffee is usually enough to start my day. I find that having a heavy breakfast slows me down whereas I like being sharp, especially during the morning hours. A detailed breakfast will also eat up a lot of my time and I like being early at the office so I can settle and be well into my daily quota before other people come into the office with all their distractions.
I am quite keen with my work and at the office I rarely move away from my chair unless I need to use the washroom or if I need to visit the office coffee machine (I drink lots of coffee while at work). I rarely go out for any breaks including lunch breaks. Many times the coffee is my only nourishment for the entire day.
In the evening after work I however treat myself with a sumptuous meal. At this time I am usually famished and have an enormous appetite. Many times I buy groceries and other cooking ingredients and go and cook some dinner for myself at home. However, the hunger is at times too much and I cannot wait until I get home. At such times I have my supper at one of the dinners located on my way home.
My eating habits are not very good and my doctor told me that I need to be eating more and healthier. He advised that if I could not manage eating regularly, then I should try and take supplements such as vitamin and protein supplements to ensure that my body is supplied with all the nutrients that it needs.
